North America's aftermarket extravaganza, SEMA kicked off this week and joining the range of aftermarket add-on accessories and wild promotional showcars, Chevrolet bought its own special-build concepts along.

The first, the Chevrolet Trax Activ takes Chevrolet’s updated 2017 Trax (which will be arriving in Australia as the Holden Trax soon) and takes it from soft-roader to bush-basher.

There’s all wheel drive capability, raised suspension, a wider track, improved approach and departure angles, a rooftop carry rack, and a set of all-terrain tyres wrapped around a set of 18-inch wheels, enclosed by a set of custom wheel arch flares.

On the inside Chevrolet has loaded the Trax Activ with a jet black interior featuring unique Carbon Flash highlights and a set of all weather floor mats, while the outside scores a coat of Satin Sandstorm paint with Carbon Flash repeated on the lower body cladding.

To complete the off-road look tinted front and rear lights, and red tow hooks protruding from the bumpers give the eager little Trax its finishing touches.

Chevrolet has also teamed up with Nike’s Hurley surfwear brand to create a unique Colorado that’s ready to hit the beach.

The Colorado Z71 Hurley differs slightly from the Holden Colorado sold in Australia, thanks to its different front end treatment and 3.6 litre petrol V6, while the custom touches give it an even bolder point of difference.

The Seafoam Green exterior is also loaded up with side steps, off-road lights, 17-inch wheels, and an illuminated bowtie kit from the Chevrolet accessories catalog, and adds a custom surfboard rack loaded with a pair of Pyzel boards, plus a tub-mounted Thule rack that can be used for storing water containers and drying wetsuits.

Inside the Colorado Z71 Hurley gets decked-out with a ‘ventiprene’ interior, made from the same fast-drying, breathable material used in surf wetsuits in matching Khaki Green and Dune Brown.

Chevrolet’s two off-road concepts will also share the spotlight with the production-ready premium-appointed Silverado 1500 High Desert, and the race-prepped Camaro Turbo AutoX which adds performance parts to Chevrolet’s 2.0 litre four-cylinder Camaro Turbo - but sadly neither of those two vehicles is set for an Australian berth in the foreseeable future.
