Peugeot has given its popular 308 Active variant an extra shot with the addition of a reversing camera and satellite navigation.

The Active grade sits one step above the entry-level Peugeot 308 Access which starts from $19,290 plus on-road costs.

The extra technology sees a price rise of $1,100 (including free updated mapping data for the first three years of ownership).

So the Peugeot 308 Active is now stickered at $27,990 plus on-road costs.

“Our Active hatches attract younger buyers, so it was logical for us to enhance the vehicle with key safety and navigational aids,” revealed Peugeot Australia chief Kai Bruesewitz. “It also signals greater changes in store for the 308 range in the near future.”

Year-to-date at the end of September, Peugeot had sold 1,058 308s - down slightly on the same time last year when the number was 1,215.

Peugeot 308 was the 2014 European Car Of The Year and is equipped with the handy turbocharged 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, good for 96kW/230Nm and driving through a six-speed automatic transmission.
