The rollout of Mercedes-AMG’s bi-turbo 3.0-litre V6 continues with the engine now headlining new GLC 43 and GLE 43 models, the latter of which takes over from the previous GLE 450 AMG Coupe
With 270kW/520Nm and cylinder lining technology derived from the V6 hybrid Mercedes-Benz F1 racers, the AMG V6 is a cracker and drives through an AMG-enhanced nine-speed automatic transmission with rev-matching downshifts in ‘Sport’ and Sport+’ modes.
The GLE range also grows, with the addition of the GLE 43 SUV, with the AMG-tuned V6 motor previously offered only in the fastback GLE Coupe
Underneath is the AMG version of Benz’ 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system which has a sporty rear bias of 69 per-cent torque to the rear wheels.
There’s also adaptive dampers and, for GLC43 and GLC43 Coupe models, air suspension.
All models are loaded with the usual AMG styling and suspension equipment goodies including 21-inch wheels for the GLC 43 range and GLE 43 SUV or 22-inch alloy wheels on the GLE 43 Coupe.
