Latest news from Europe has the Honda Civic Type R boasting considerably more grunt thanks to a 254kW/450Nm turbocharged 2.0-litre engine.
Britain’s Auto Express says the Type R will maintain its six-speed manual and front-wheel-drive configuration and the extra oomph will deliver zero to 100km/h in around 5.0-seconds.
This seems to ‘bin’ speculation the all-new Honda Civic Type R would score all-wheel-drive.
We’re told the all-new Honda Civic Type R will be 30mm wider, 20mm lower and 130mm longer than the current generation and probably a little less extreme in the aerodynamic enhancements package.
But still expect flared wheel arches and massive air intakes.
European market launch is slated for September, while Australia is looking at the second half of 2017 before the new Type R arrives.
