MINI has taken its driving-fun ethos another step further with the introduction of its latest John Cooper Works Challenge, a cranked up MINI JCW designed to feel at home on the racetrack as it does on the street.

Taking cues from the one-make MINI Challenge race series, the JCW Challenge takes the three-door MINI JCW hatch as its starting point and stuffs it full of race-ready eqiupment.

Amongst the JCW Challenge’s bespoke features; grooved and drilled 330mm front brake rotors clamped by four-pot Brembo calipers and Mintex brake pads, and lightweight 17x7.5 inch Team Dynamics alloy wheels which save 1.5 kilograms per corner.

Coilover suspension comes from UK firm, Nitron, and is adjustable for comression and rebound as well as ride height. Adjustable camber and castor setting allow the Challenge to be set up for best track or street performance.

Power outputs from the standard MINI John Cooper Works are unchanged at 170kW and 320Nm, but to help get power to the ground MINI has fitted a Quaife automatic torque biasing helical gear limited slip differential.

And no race car would be complete without a set of sticky tyres - in this case 215/45 R17 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 rubber keeps the JCW Challenge firmly attached to the track.

The finishing touches come from the John Cooper Works accessory catalog, including the JCW Pro Aerokit (comprising front splitters, rear spoiler additions, rear diffuser and rear splitters), a carbon fibre air intake and carbon fibre mirror covers.

A JCW Pro exhaust, with Bluetooth control for Sport or Track track settings is also included.

Other Challenge touches include a black roof, unique decal package, individually numbered passenger side dash facia, adaptive LED headlights, and black Dinamica cloth interior.

Now, for the bad news - the JCW Challenge, priced from £32,000 (A$61,300) is limited to just 100 units for UK consumption only meaning Australian buyers will have to make do with the standard John Cooper Works instead.
