If you were one of the many wide-eyed punters straining for a look at Subaru’s high-performance Levorg STI wagon, we’ve got some bad news. Instead of the full STI experience Subaru is only offering an STI Sport.
What does that mean? Well, instead of a heavily reworked package delivering fire-breathing performance, the Levorg STI Sport offers a few select STI parts in a factory built package.
Available on both the 1.6 litre and 2.0 litre Levorg, the STI Sport package doesn’t deliver any changes to the standard 125kW 1.6 turbo, or WRX-derived 220kW 2.0 turbo litre engines, nor the standard Lineartronic CVT automatic.
Instead buyers will be offered a revised interior with STI Sport-specific Bordeaux and Black leather on the seats, console, and doors, plus STI door sill plates, a unique gear selector, and red-stitched steering wheel.
STI badging takes pride of place at the front and rear of the car, as well as an STI front bumper and grille, rear exhaust finisher, and dark grey multi-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels. Subaru’s WR Blue Pearl paint is also an STI Sport exclusive.
There is a hint of STI sportyness though, thanks to a clamp stiffener for the electric power steering system, and DampMatic II front suspension, with front and rear dampers and springs supplied by Bilstein.
The Levorg STI Sport also comes standard with Subaru's EyeSight safety system, featuring stereoscopic cameras that monitor the road ahead and offer lane departure warning, a warning when a vehicle in front moves off, collision warning and mitigation, autonomous braking, and adaptive cruise control.
Aussie STI fans won’t be given the chance to buy an STI-tickled Levorg in Australia however, with this special edition package staying put in Japan.
