Ahlen-based tuner, edo competition, has tinkered with some pretty impressive hardware in the past, usually with excellent results. But when your starting point is Lamborghini's fabulous Murcielago LP640, you know the results are going to be crazy good... and they are.

According to edo competition, you're looking at "the world’s fastest Lamborghini Murcièlago" (excluding modified examples I'd assume). Given the rated top speed of over 360 km/h, that's not hard to believe and I'd be happy enough for them to prove it to me.

The edo nut-factory manages to extract 523kws from the 6.5L V12 - that's 45kws extra over a 'standard' LP640 - by adding new exhaust headers, new high flow catalytic converters, new mufflers, a new exhaust tip, new performance camshafts, modified cylinder heads and new high flow air filters. After all that, the ECU is recalibrated to make the most of the new gear. Oh and let's not forget torque has now jumped to a bitumen busting 700Nms, up 40Nms.

The fun doesn't stop there: a revised rear wing improves aerodynamics while a new wheel and tyre combo adds grip and bolsters the already-menacing looks. The 19-inch lightweight alloys are shod with high-speed Continental V-Max tyres, 225/35's up front and 325/30's on the rears.

The most interesting change is the removal of the 4WD system, hence the 'slash-2' (/2), which shaves 40kgs from the kerb weight and, according to edo, improves handling. To finish up, edo tosses out the standard clutch for an improved single plate item - no doubt needed to handle all that bloody torque!

To me the visuals seems a little overdone and you'd have to question how having two less driving wheels improves handling. But who would pass up the opportunity to get their bum in one of those seats? Imagine how much fun you could have with that much torque and RWD, I'm giddy just thinking about it.
