Fiat’s performance arm, Abarth, has revealed an update for its version of the funky 500, the Abarth 595.

The updated 595 arrives just one week after Fiat Australia released here a new lower-cost, detuned version of the current Series 3 595.

The new 595 Series 4 updates bring a restyled front bumper with deeper intakes, a new exterior colour-palette, and newly designed 17-inch alloy wheels. New front and rear light assemblies from the regular 500 range have also been adopted.

On the inside, the 595 range scores a new flat-bottomed steering wheel, and the 5.0-inch Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system out of the regular 500, with an available 7.0-inch high-definition version also available with pre-loaded telemetry apps included.

As well as the track info (and the ability to share race results with friends on social media) the larger infotainment system will be able to handle Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. A seven-speaker, 480 watt Beats Audio upgrade will also be offered.

The three-model range includes Abarth 595, 595 Turismo, and 595 Competizione. All versions feature a five-speed manual transmission, with an optional five-speed single-clutch automatic available.

Power in the 595 goes from 103kW to 108kW, the 595 Turismo steps up from 118kW to 123kW, while the 595 Competizione maintains its 132kW output.

Turismo and Competizione models also feature Koni FSD shock absorbers, while the Competizione now adds a Performance Pack to the options list featuring Sabelt leather and Alcantara trimmed carbon-shell front seats, a limited slip differential (on manual models), and Supersport alloy wheels.

The 595 Competizione also features a high-performance Brembo brake package with 305mm vented and cross-drilled discs, clamped by four-piston monoblock calipers, available in red, grey, black, or yellow.

The updated Abarth 595 range goes on sale in Europe from June, available in both hatch and convertible body styles. Australian launch timing is yet to be confirmed, but don’t expect to see the new 595 range until late this year at the earliest.
