Jaguar’s new F-TYPE SVR is now available for order in Australia, ahead of its local arrival and even ahead of its official unveiling.
The “fastest F-TYPE ever” is due to go on show to the public at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, but local fans can hand over their deposits now to ensure they don’t miss out.
How much? The Coupe is priced from $289,590 and the Convertible starts at $308,470; plus on-road costs.
For those amounts, customers will get a 5.0 litre supercharged V8 petrol engine producing 423kW (up 19kW over the equivalent F-TYPE) and 700Nm, matched with an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel-drive.
The 0-100km/h sprint takes 3.7 seconds, and top speeds are rated at 322km/h for the Coupe and 314km/h for the Convertible. Fuel consumption is rated at 11.3 l/100km.
Some of the SVR goodie bag includes an enhanced aerodynamics package, carbon-fibre active rear wing, uprated suspension components, 20-inch alloy wheels wearing wider Pirelli P-Zero tyres and a titanium exhaust system.
Inside, customers will find unique, black leather SVR seats (with 14-way adjustment) and steering wheel, suede-cloth trim highlights, Jaguar’s InControl Touch Plus infotainment system with eight-inch touchscreen and more
The SVR is 25kg lighter than the standard AWD F-TYPE, and customers can opt for lighter brakes and a carbon-fibre roof to increase this margin to 50kg.
The new F-TYPE variant is the first to receive the Special Vehicle Operations treatment from Jaguar Land Rover, with the carmaker describing it as “lighter, quicker, faster and more powerful while remaining tractable and useable day-to-day”.
“The purity of the F-TYPE’s form is something truly special, but in designing the new F-TYPE SVR we had the opportunity to create something even more dramatic,” Jaguar design boss, Ian Callum, said.
“Every additional form, line or component is there for a reason, and contributes to the car’s increased performance as well as its presence.”
The order book for the 2016 Jaguar F-TYPE SVR is open now, with first deliveries expected in Australia from Q3 this year.
