This new image marks the first official look at the ‘new’ sedan’s back-end, and it is clear that significant styling changes will feature.
Although tightly cropped, this photo reveals that the Falcon sedan’s tail-lights have been completely re-styled.
Replacing the tall units of the current ‘FG’ model, the rear lights of the ‘FH’ Falcon have taken on an elongated design that reaches into the tailgate.
A chrome garnish can be seen, running through the centre of the boot lid and joining the lights at the clear portion of the lens.
It is unclear if LED lighting will feature in this new design, although there appears to be LED strips running along the top of the lens.
This new image also hints at a shorter bevel along the edge of the boot lid, pointing to a redesigned deck and rear quarter shape.
Last week, Ford released a similarly cropped teaser of the new sedan’s headlights, revealing an angular new lens design and a sharpened bonnet.
This forms part of an expected styling overhaul for the new Falcon, promised to be the most extensive mid-life redesign the badge has ever seen.
Unfortunately, with Ford Australia production set to wind up in 2016, this will be more of an end-of-life upgrade.
We can expect a significant one, though, with new technologies and the return of the fan-favourite XR8 badge among the promised changes.
