Citroen has announced its six-year unlimited-kilometre warranty and capped-price servicing program now covers its full Australian passenger car range - leaving out only the Berlingo van.

The service, which also includes free roadside assistance, was first announced in March and covered only the new C4 Grand Picasso, the DS3, DS4 and the DS5.

Today’s announcement pushes Citroen to the front of the pack, with only a handful of other brands offering even a five-year warranty and most maintaing a three-year program.

"The six-year unlimited kilometre warranty and six-year capped price service plan across our entire passenger range is a statement of our commitment to Australia," Citroen Australia marketing chief Manuel Tyras said.

"Customers can now purchase with the confidence of a six year unlimited kilometre warranty for all passenger vehicles, along with the peace of mind that comes with six year roadside assist and six year capped price servicing.”

The earlier limited introduction appears to have contributed to some amount of sales growth for Citroen this year: in April the brand had improved year-to-date sales by just three cars, while figures for June show 629 YTD sales - a slight but noteable increase over 583 for the same period last year.

Importantly, the six-year warranty is fully transferrable, meaning that a typical three or four-year finance term will leave another two to three years of Citroen factory backing on the vehicle.

All passenger models also benefit from a six-year/90,000km capped-price servicing program, with intervals of every 12 months or 15,000km.

The Berlingo van, for now at least, retains its existing three-year/100,000km warranty.

Today’s announcement also comes just days after Kia Australia boss Damien Meredith confirmed once more that his brand is “doing the sums” on extending its already impressive five-year unlimited-kilometre warranty.
