Ford Australia has at last offered a first look at its ‘new’ 2015 Falcon, likely to be the last homegrown Falcon we will ever see.
Due to appear in November, a tightly cropped shot is all we have for now - but it is nonetheless a telling teaser of what the so-called ‘FH’ Falcon will offer.
Ford has promised an extensive facelift for the final Falcon, and it is clear from this image that a sharpened bonnet and a large grille will also feature.
And while familiar, the new grille design also appears unique, as though Ford has flipped the trapezoidal grille of the new Mondeo and updated Focus on its head.
Details of the new headlight design also reveals a slender chrome-trimmed LED strip that will see at least one generation of the Falcon blessed with daytime running lights before the line is retired.
Apart from its freshened looks, a major technology overhaul will headline the Falcon's updates, and the fan-favourite XR8 will also return to the range.
What will replace the Falcon in 2016 is unclear, although it is possible Ford will focus on the Mondeo as its largest family and fleet offering outside of its SUV range.
Likewise, a replacement for the Territory is still yet to be identified or even confirmed, although the company’s new Edge SUV is a leading contender.
