Mazda has announced some across the board retail price cutting on its handsome Mazda6 range. Reductions of between $1,750 and $3,920 have been made depending on the model.
The new Mazda6 range now kicks off at $27,990 for the Limited sedan, making it $1,750 better value. At the top of the range the Mazda6 Luxury Sports hatch is now priced at $42,990 with Activematic transmission, delivering a $3,920 windfall to new car buyers.
“We’re making it even easier for Australians to enjoy the Zoom-Zoom delights of owning a Mazda6,” said Mazda Managing Director Doug Dickson.
If you have already purchased the latest generation Mazda6 you are probably feeling a little miffed at this news. To ease the pain, Mazda has also announced a ‘goodwill package’ for current owners.
“We will reward existing Mazda6 owners for their loyalty with a goodwill package consisting of free scheduled maintenance, or free scheduled maintenance and an extended warranty, which effectively reduces the cost of ownership.”

*Huff*, that’ll go down a treat with existing owners of the new 6.
I own a Mazda2 and as much as I’m a fan of the car I’m NOT a fan of the sales/service staff. Shame on you, Mazda Oz, you should be offering to refund these customers or offer them fuel vouchers or offer them a discount on their next Mazda.
So do Aussies get the Atenza or the bloated Yank tank version?
Price drop is only inline with a strong AUD
how bout a 2 door turbo version of the RX-8. they could call it an RX-7
We get the world spec car here. The supersized version is only for North America.
Damn those big macs!
They are giving free scheduled maintenence and extended warranty to current owners, so they benefit as well…
Hasn’t quite lived up to its predecessor success on the sales chart i suspect.
Why? the fuel economy gains arent enough to tempt previous generation 6 owners out of the old one.
Note to Car companies. Going forward dont bother releasing a new car if fuel economy isnt improved by at least 20percent.
