Audi's next-generation TT has been spied recently in various stages of undress, but now the German carmaker has offered a first official glimpse of the new sportster.

You won't see the all-important exterior styling for a while yet, but this week's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas has given buyers a look of the new cabin design, revealed in full today.

Taking on something of a cockpit-inspired design, the new TT's interior features a set of turbine-styled vents and a deep three-spoke steering wheel.

Dominating the driver's view is a 12.3-inch screen that combines the traditional instrument cluster and multi-function display into a single digital unit.

Arriving as a competitor to the large multi-mode display offered first with the Lexus LFA and now with the Lexus IS sedan, the new screen offers a number of modes and functions, including 'classic' drive-focused details and an infotainment panel with navigation and media features.

Importantly, the cockpit shown at CES has also revealed that the TT our spy photographers caught in action will not feature the cabin seen in our photos.

Also shown at CES was a second screen panel, not featured in the TT cabin but displayed on a standalone centre-console, allowing a similar level of control for the car's passenger.

Audi says the system will feature a new and more accurate rotary pushbutton controller, "precisely monitored with hundredth of a millimeter precision by an optical sensor."

Expect the new system to appear both in the new TT, and in later generations of the wider Audi range.
