Big-bore nakeds are well and truly ‘back in town’. To put a bit more heat in the kitchen, Suzuki has announced a ‘special edition’ of its popular, and enormously ‘grunty’ GSX1400 naked which is due to arrive here in coming weeks.
Reflecting Suzuki's factory racing heritage, the GSX1400Z features special-edition blue and white livery, including Suzuki’s legendary three stripes (which, no doubt, makes the show go a helluva lot faster). This special-edition GSX1400Z marks the final stage of Suzuki's famous, air/oil-cooled, inline four-cylinder engine, which descended from the original GSX-R750 race replica in 1985. That means, friends, you’ll need to snap one up if you want a slice of this hugely-respected machine – once they’re gone, they’re gone.
"With impressive power and technology combined with bold, big bike styling, the Suzuki GSX1400 has been incredibly popular over many years. This stunning special-edition livery is the perfect way to celebrate the GSX1400 which will cease production at the end of this year," Perry Morison, General Manager, Motorcycles, Suzuki Australia said.
As anyone who’s thrown a leg over will attest, the four-cylinder 1,400cc powerplant in the GSX1400Z delivers incredible low-to-mid-range torque and smooth power delivery thanks to Suzuki's Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV) fuel-injection system. The GSX1400Z also features 46mm front forks and dual piggyback-reservoir rear shock absorbers, with a range of adjustment options.
With classical buck-naked lines, stainless steel muffler and special-edition white/blue livery, the Suzuki GSX1400Z will be good buying at $12,990 (inc GST) with a two-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty (plus government and dealer delivery charges). Nice machine the GSX1400.

I have had a K2 model from new, and have sold it to make way for the 09Z. I have not had a spanner on the K2 since I bought it new, and have done 150.000ks. The K2 cost me $18000 new and I got $8500 when I sold. So for the price tag on the new 1400Z only being $12995 it's a bargain. This bike will still be worth $10.000 in 3 years time in my opinion.

I have owned several bikes never a super bike till late in life, pushing sixty and getting absent minded, While I enjoy the ability to go somewhere quick, on occasion up around 200, but not as quick some. When I arrive at my destination I also like to be able to ride all the way in to where I may wish to make camp! I am beginning to accept I may be too old to keep doing
what I have always done, well with this big bike anyway. I struggle to lift it when I make a mistake. My last warning was dropping the bike well in the bush in roo shooting country and braking the clutch leaver right off. I was just lucky to be able to get back to the dirt road through the trees and fallen timber without a clutch.. The fourteen needs to be rolling a fair bit before I can kick it into first without stalling but I am sure everyone knows once rolling gear selection is not that difficult. Yes it has sporty handling more than enough for me. Much more than Australian speed limits
allow. I have been searching for some custom handle bars with a ten inch rise. I am happy to sit straight upright with shoulders above hips when doing the national limitin Australia.
Not all my photos are of the bike rubber up! It takes me where I wish to go. It is my "iron horse"to use an old motorcycle mag title from the US. I am willing to send photos of where My bike takes me
Cheers Edward James
