With fuel prices the way they are lately, and no sign of any change for the better on the horizon, many of us car enthusiasts—or just me, at the least—are finding ourselves occasionally contemplating thinking about maybe considering a new, less expensive infatuation.

But when you eventually admit to yourself that—if you didn't need it to get the job done—you'd rather take to your left leg with a rusty saw than give up your car, you soon realise it might be easier to just grin and bear it.

Well, it's Wednesday night—just about the worst night of the week to spot the fuel gauge arm sitting next to the E—so maybe these few cartoons and gags might help you get through it.

    I remember when I first got my license, and fuel was at 70c/L.

    If I ever discover the secret of time travel, the first thing I'm doing is buying some jerry cans.
