Qoros Grows Upcoming Range With SUV And Wagon Concepts

TMR Team | Feb 18, 2013

When the upstart Chinese-Israeli carmaker Qoros rolls into next month's Geneva Motor Show, it will be there with one production model and two 'concept' offerings.

The 3 sedan, known previously as the GQ3 and QC3, was revealed in December and its Geneva unveiling will mark the new car's first European appearance.

Joining the sedan will be the 3 Estate and the 3 Cross Hybrid, representing regular and high-riding wagonised versions of the four-door 3.

Details for the 3 Estate are thin on the ground, but like the 3 Sedan, it will likely enter as a size rival to the small Ford Focus and Opel Astra sedan and wagon models.

In sedan form, the 3 measures 4615mm long and 1839mm wide, making it a little less than 100mm longer than the Focus sedan.

The carmaker promises a spacious interior and a strong set of features and trim options, including an eight-inch touchscreen display.

The 3 is yet to undergo Euro NCAP crash safety testing, although Qoros says development of the new sedan focused on achieving a top rating.

While the 3 Estate will utilise the same 93kW/155Nm naturally-aspirated and 116kW/210Nm turbocharged 1.6 litre engines found in the sedan, the Cross Hybrid features a petrol-electric hybrid setup.

Driving the Cross Hybrid is a 1.2 litre turbocharged petrol engine mated to a pair of electric motors: a drive motor mounted over the rear axle, and another operating as a generator.

Power and driving range details for the Hybrid have not been revealed, although Qoros says owners will have access to three driving modes: petrol front-wheel-drive, electric rear-wheel-drive, and petrol-electric all-wheel-drive.

Watch for more details to land at the Geneva Motor Show.

Qoros seems to be quite prepared with a range of fine looking vehicles. The wagon or wagonette I think is the best of the 3. Looking forward for proper test runs and see how motoring journos first impressions about these vehicles.

Definitely looks like it'll be the best thing out of China (with Israeli help of course) so far...
