Audi TT RS Plus On Sale In Australia

TMR Team | Feb 15, 2013

Audi's scorching new TT RS Plus has stormed into Australia with a $139,900 price tag.

More powerful than the 'regular' TT RS, faster and more dynamic, the Plus model enters as a final run for the current TT range.

The Plus is driven by by the same 2.5 litre five-cylinder turbo engine that hauls the TT RS, but gains an extra 15kW and 15Nm to make 265kW and 465Nm of torque.

Audi's Quattro all-wheel-drive system is standard - as it is with all RS models - and a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission is the only shifting option available.

Audi promises a blistering 0-100km/h time of 4.1 seconds, making the TT RS Plus around 0.5 seconds quicker than the TT RS.

Top speed is a heady 280km/h, and fuel consumption is listed at 8.5 l/100km.

The TT RS Plus weighs in at 1475 kilograms, giving a power-to-weight ratio of 5.6 kilograms per kilowatt.

Setting the RS Plus apart from its RS stablemate is a black-and-red design for the 19-inch five-spoke wheels, wrapped in 255/35 rubber at all four corners.

The car's face is largely unchanged, although it does gain a polished anthracite finish to the standard RS diamond-mesh grille.

The side-mirror caps are of a carbon fibre-reinforced polymer rather than the regular satin-finished versions on the RS, and the carbon highlights continue in the cabin and the engine bay.

Unlike overseas versions of the RS Plus, the Australian-delivered model also gets Audi's magnetic ride adaptive damping system as standard equipment.

What's wrong with that? The platform is built to be versatile, and it's not good business to make a heap of different platforms. Haven't you ever run a business?
