Get the best price on a new Alfa Romeo
Alfa Romeo's new mid-engined rear-wheel-drive 4C coupe has been revealed online, just weeks out from its global premiere in Geneva.
As expected, the production 4C is virtually identical to the styling of its concept predecessor, which promised much when it first appeared at the 2011 Geneva show.
Full details for the new coupe are still to be released, although Alfa has confirmed a power-to-weight ratio of around 8.8 pounds (4kg) for every horse that pulls it.
Motivation will come from an aluminium mid-mounted 1.75 litre turbocharged and direct-injected engine, sending power to the rear wheels. It'll get there through a six-speed TCT dual-clutch auto.
Around 177kW is expected to come out of that turbo four, and a 0-100km/h time in the neighbourhood of 4.5 seconds should be on the cards.
It's known that the strictly two-seater 4C is wrapped around a carbon-fibre monocoque chassis, contributing to a kerb weight below 1000kg.
Below is a lightweight aluminium suspension with MacPherson struts and a double wishbone arrangement.
Production of the 4C will be carried out at Maserati's plant in Modena, and numbers are expected to be limited to around 2500 units per year for the entire world.
Watch for more details in the coming weeks.
