GM Holden has taken the covers off its soon to be released replacement for the current Rodeo light commercial vehicle range. The new LCV addition to the range is being called the Holden Colorado.

The Holden Colorado will bring an extensive LCV range to the market, offering consumers a wide choice of body styles, powertrains and specifications to suit all work and recreational applications, catering for both fleet and private customers.

A standout feature of the Colorado range, that should prove popular with Australian buyers is the muscular styling - with bold wheel arches, an aggressive looking front end and side profile.

Three engines are available, including a 3.0-litre four-cylinder common rail turbo diesel, which delivers peak torque of 360Nm at 1800rpm and peak power of 120kW at 3600rpm^ (manual transmission). Also available is Holden’s 3.6-litre Alloytec V6 petrol engine and a 2.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine.

The sports variant of the Colorado has been dubbed the LT-R and it will available in 4×2 or 4×4 variants. The LT-R will combine a number of sports features including a sports bar, soft tonneau cover, side steps, front fog lamps, 16 inch alloy wheels and sports interior trim. The LT-R 4×4 also adds Bluetooth® capability for compatible phones and Rear Park Assist.

Good news for those with boats and vans is the impressive three tonne towing capacity of the Turbo Diesel 4×4 variant.

Standard across the entire Colorado range is a driver and passenger airbag and ABS brakes, with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) standard on LT-R and all LX 4×4 variants.

“The Colorado is built tough with up to three tonnes of towing capability. With over 30 combinations of model, powertrain, cabin, ride height and body style, there’s a Colorado to tackle any job,” said Ms Basile GM Holden Marketing Manager.

Holden are claiming that the new Colorado range offers high levels of performance and load carrying capability, all with the car-like interior comfort and value for money.

Now, if you were wondering what happened to the Rodeo nameplate you are not alone. The rights to the iconic nameplate are owned by Isuzu and following its departure from the GM fold the name is no longer available for Holden’s use, so the Colorado it is, not very Australian but better than calling it the ‘Alice Springs’.

The sepo’s are on the nose to ruin most cars they design. True SEPO’S will always design true to red, white and blue……there are rare cases where they design (look) is real hot. BUT ALAS THAT IS VERY RARE AND THIS IS REASON FORD IS ON NOSE AS USA MODELS ARE TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SEPO!

This is changing slowly with euro kinetic look and real test will be to see what Ford sell in SEPO range!
