Mazda6 And CX-5 Styling Concepts Bound For Tokyo Auto Salon

Mike Stevens | Dec 27, 2012

Mazda has revealed a quintet of lightly made-over 'concepts' for next month's Tokyo Auto Salon, based on the new Mazda6 and CX-5 family cars.

Three tweaked versions of the Mazda6 will appear, including two sedans and one wagon. All have been lowered over their wheels, including two sets of track-focused alloys.

All three have picked up various body add-ons, with lips, skirts and extra LED lighting making up the bulk of the modest tweaks.

Mazda says it has also given the wagon a handful of luxury appointments in the cabin, along with a top-shelf audio system.

Two CX-5 'concepts' will also feature, each picking up 20-inch wheels and basic styling additions. The 'Active Driver' version also gets a carbon fibre bonnet.

Those expecting a preview of the next-generation Mazda3 small car may need to wait until one of the year's bigger shows (if a 2013 preview is due at all).
