BMW's got a big new pair in the Australian market, with the launch this week of the 2013 M6 Coupe and Convertible performance flagships.
The duo kicks off with the $292,500 M6 Coupe, while top-down cruising in the M6 Convertible will take $308,500 off your hands.
The M6 twins also carry a significant premium over the existing 650i two-doors, with the M models entering at around $60,000 above both bodystyles.

Packing BMW's brawling twin-turbo 4.4 litre V8 engine, both cars deliver a huge 412kW of power and 680Nm of torque, sent to the rear wheels through the familiar seven-speed M-DCT dual-clutch auto.
BMW promises a sprint to 100km/h in 4.2 seconds if you're steering the Coupe. If you're in the Convertible, you'll get there in 4.3 seconds - the same as the four-door M5 sedan.
Fuel consumption is listed at 9.9 l/100km for the Coupe, while the slightly heftier Convertible returns 10.3 l/100km.
On the styling front, the new M6ers add the usual M-specific bits, including a gaping maw, quad exhaust tips, and unique guard vents.
As with the previous E63 M6 coupe, the F12 also features a lightweight carbon fibre roof panel.
All Australian M6 models will come with the larger 20 inch dual-spoke wheels, which are optional in some overseas markets, where 19s are fitted as standard.
To accommodate the big wheels, the M6's guards are a full 25mm wider than on the regular models.
Features include fully-customisable M1 and M2 buttons that allow the driver to tweak suspension, ESC, gear changes and steering weighting.
There is also Start/stop, electric park brake, radar-based cruise control, reverse, surround and top-view cameras, parking sensors, dual-zone climate, adaptive LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers and soft-close doors.
You also get a full colour head-up display (HUD) and a huge 9.2-inch navigation screen which also projects turn-by-turn info onto the HUD. The iDrive is also voice controlled.
Boot space in the Coupe is listed at 460 litres, while the Convertible grows from 300 litres to 350 litres when the roof is put up.
The local debut of the new M6 pair isn’t likely to be the last we’ll see from the family, with a Gran Coupe M6 variant expected to launch locally some time next year.
