Volvo's jacked-up XC70 SUV has picked up a number of new features for 2013, giving the ageing wagon a new lease on life in the Australian market.
For the new model year, the XC70 gains the familiar turbocharged 3.0 litre T6 petrol engine, producing 224kW and 440Nm of torque.
The top-shelf turbo petrol joins joins the existing 179kW 3.2 petrol and 158kW D5 diesel engines, and fuel consumption is rated at 10.5 litres.
The XC70 also picks up Active High Beam with the optional Driver Alert System, while automatic headlights have been added to the Rain Sensor option pack.
Volvo's City Safety collision avoidance system has also been upgraded, and now works at speeds up to 50km/h.
The City Safety feature is noteworthy for buyers; insurance companies in the Insurance Australia Group currently offer a reduction of up to 20 percent on premiums for models fitted with the technology.
There is also Volvo's new Road Sign Information (RSI) system, which assists the driver by displaying speed limits and other selected road sign information in the instrument panel.
RSI is included in the optional Driver Alert System, and Adaptive Cruise Control and Collision Warning with Autobrake option.
