Automotive spy photography is a serious business, and the Nürburgring Nordshleife in Germany is arguably the nucleus of the industry.

The infamous 20.8km circuit is used by numerous manufacturers worldwide, thanks to its rigorous bumps, elevation changes and high-speed sweeping bends.

To commemorate the end of the 2012 manufacturer test season (before the snow arrives), our shooters have compiled a photo set that demonstrates the heights (pun intended) of testing undertaken at the famous circuit.

Cars we've spied getting air at the ring have included Merecedes-Benz’ B-Class and SL, the upcoming E-Class facelift, the SLS Black Series, and 2014 S-Class.

There's also BMW’s X5, upcoming 3 Series GT and M6 Gran Coupe, to Opel’s upcoming Insignia facelift, to Porsche’s Panamera and upcoming Macan, and most bizarrely; Rolls Royce’s upcoming Ghost-based Corniche coupe.

These shots were all taken at the iconic ‘Flugplatz’ section of the track - which aptly translates as ‘airport’. ‘Nuff said.

We’re sure you’ll agree there’s a guilty pleasure in seeing a new Rolls Royce being launched off the deck. Enjoy.
