This week however, the Australian office loaded 100 up-spec Territory models onto a boat bound for Thailand, where a display model shown off at the Bangkok Motor Show led to a rush of orders.
The Territorys making their way to Thai showrooms and driveways are all Titanium TDCi diesel all-wheel-drive cars, packaged to suit the nation's specifications and conditions.
“Building on the success of the Territory in Australia and New Zealand, we expect the Territory Titanium model to do well in Thailand,” Ford Australia boss Bob Graziano said.
“It’s clear Thai customers want the roominess of a seven-seater and the features available in the Territory Titanium."
The short-run export program marks the first for Ford Australia since a similar exercise was undertaken in 2005, when a small number of pre-update Territory SUVs was shipped to Thailand.
