As a general rule, I'd describe most aftermarket aesthetic modifications—especially those done to Japanese cars—to be utter rubbish.

When the new Impreza rolled along, I spent many a night praying by candle light, that someone would please do something about those outdated, blinding, 'ricer-style' tail lights. Don't get me wrong; unlike some folks, I'm firmly embedded in the camp that adores the STI. The fat haunches, the aggressive lines, the slick interior, the mental as anything performance. But those tail lights, my good golly gosh. Methinks someone spent a few too many quiet moments flicking through a copy of their teenage son's tuner magazines.

It looks now though as if one crowd or another have started offering an alternative. Now, I'm not sure a couple of tomato quarters slapped on the back of my Impreza would be the ideal solution either, but they're a marked improvement I'd say.
