The 2013 RS 5 benefits from the same styling update gifted to the A5 and S5; better still, Audi has shaved nearly $15,000 from the price.
The big coupe's heart carries over untouched, its 4.2 litre atmo V8 delivering a healthy 331kW at 8250rpm and 430Nm between 4000 and 6000rpm.
Power is sent to all four wheels through Audi's seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission, propelling the machine to 100km/h in 4.5 seconds. Audi says you'll hit 200km/h in 10.9 seconds.
Fuel consumption is listed at 10.5 l/100km with top speed electronically limited to 250km/h - although Audi will unlock it to 280km/h "on request".
The RS 5 also offers two Dynamic Sports packages, including Sports Suspension Plus with Dynamic Ride Control, a sports exhaust upgrade with blackened tail pipes, and the option to option-up from 19- to 20-inch wheels.
Styling tweaks for the 2013 model-year include new headlights and tail-lights, a subtly reshaped grille and sharpened bonnet.
Inside, the RS 5 picks up a new multifunction leather sports steering wheel, along with a restyled ignition key, column stalks and shift lever knob.
Two new trim packs have also been added to the range, offering Valcona leather with diamond quilting ($14,990) and contrasting red leather (from $9400).
The updated RS 5 is available now, priced from $161,400 - down from $175,300 for the outgoing model.
