Brisbanites Prefer Corollas, Country Buyers Go Bigger: RACQ

Mike Stevens | Jul 24, 2012

Queensland's RACQ has trawled through its customer statistics to determine which cars are most popular in different areas of the state.

According to the data, suburban Brisbanites are drawn to smaller and midsized cars, with Toyota's Corolla and Camry topping the list.

The bigger options weren't far behind however, with the Commodore, Falcon and LandCruiser filling out the top five.

Surprising no one, the data also showed that buyers in regional areas of Queensland are swayed by the power and versatility of larger cars.

In Bundaberg, 350km out of Brisbane, the Falcon is the most popular car for RACQ members, followed by the Commodore and the LandCruiser.

Another 600 kilometres up the coast, RACQ's Mackay members lean towards the same three models - but in the reverse order.

The Corolla and Camry still made the top 10 in both of the major regional centres, although further down the ranks.

Other popular options for RACQ members include the Mazda3 and the Mitsubishi's Lancer, along with the retired (but soon to return) Astra and Nissan Pulsar badges.
