Slip-up or savvy marketing movie? Officially a promo clip for the spunky new Clio hatch, a new video from Renault this week has delivered a preview of another new model: the Clio wagon.

Expected to wear a 'Sports Tourer' badge, the Clio wagon features the same front-end styling and pillar-mounted rear door handles of the hatch, while stretching the rear to create a more capacious cargo area.

Loading access should prove useful also, with the tailgate opening extending right down into the lower half of the rear bumper.

Expect the wagon's engine range to carry over from the hatch line-up, with the 1.5 litre turbodiesel and upcoming new 1.2 litre petrol engine likely to lead the way.

Whether we'll see the Sport Tourer in Australia is very uncertain. Competition in the light car market is red-hot at the moment, but Renault's local arm will no doubt be looking closely at the business case for a light wagon.
