New BMW F 700/800 GS Adventure Bikes Coming

Malcolm Flynn | Jul 4, 2012

BMW Motorrad has developed new versions of its entry and medium GS models, in the form of the F 700 GS and F 800 GS.

Replacing the previous F 800 GS and F650 GS - first introduced in 2007 - the new models come with an array of mechanical and detail improvements.

Both models are now available with switchable stability control, electronic rear shock adjustment, along with new-generation switchable ABS as standard.

Physically, the new models gain redesigned body details, handlebar controls and instruments.

The F 700 GS gains 3kW (now 55kW) over its F 650 GS predecessor, along with twin disc front brakes, new windshield and handlebar clamp designs and paint options.

Updated to a lesser degree, the F 800 GS gains the options of a lowered suspension setup, along with an LED auxiliary headlight and similar colour options.

The new models are not expected for sale on the Australian market until the end of the year at the earliest, when exact specifications and pricing will also be announced.

Sadly going from 650 to 700cc means its no longer available under LAMS. There goes some sales in aus. These euro emissions things are silly, the displacement shouldn't have to go up.

The F650gs and F700gs's both use 798cc engines, just detuned versions of the F800gs.

Don't know why they name them like this as it does confuse a lot of people.
