Revealed as a one-off concept built specially for the show, the 500 Coupe Zagato took the regular 500 three-door city car and shaved the back-end into a sportier fastback form.
Distinctly '500' in its look, the concept was also a clear revival of Zagato's 1950 project of the same name.
Now, reports out of the US suggest the company is working with compatriot Fiat to bring the new 500 Coupe Zagato to limited production in 2013.
Details for the project are sketchy, but according to Automobile magazine, the car will retain the 2+2 layout of both the concept and the regular 500, with the Coupe concept's styling left largely untouched.
An Australian debut is unlikely (supply of the 500 has always been constrained in right-hand-drive markets), but for buyers in Europe, this could be the closest many will come to owning a Zagato-badged coupe.
