The Toyota Group has tasted the spoils of endurance racing, claiming three class victories in the weekend’s Nürburgring 24 Hour race.

TMR reported last week that the Japanese giant was fielding four ‘works’ Toyota 86s and a Lexus LFA in the event, under the teams Gazoo Racing and Toyota Swiss Racing.

Gazoo Racing’s Toyota 86s finished first and third in the SP3 class, boding well for the new model in its first international motorsport event.

The #166 car placed 46th overall, and the #165 car 65th came overall, with the cars completing 129 and 125 laps respectively.

Gazoo’s #83 Lexus LFA entry placed first in the SP8 class, coming home 15th overall after completing 147 laps of the infamous circuit.

Toyota Swiss Racing took home first place in the ‘closer to production’ V3 class with their #200 86, coming 78th overall after 119 laps.

The Swiss team’s #201 entry was forced to retire after 11 laps following a collision with a faster car.

Audi took out the overall race victory, with the Team Pheonix #3 and Team Mamerow Racing #26 Audi R8 LMS Ultras forming a 1-2 finish, and the Team Heico #66 AMG SLS GT3 finishing third within one lap of the winners.
