The international industry magazine Fleet World has awarded Renault two awards in the 2012 Fleet World Honours.
Renault picked up two awards: the electric Kangoo Z.E. landed the Editor's Award, and the entire company received the Environmental award.
“Lots of manufacturers are talking about electric vehicles, but few have invested anywhere near the time, money and effort that Renault has," Fleet World editor Steve Moody said.
"The excellent Twizy, ZOE and Fluence Z.E. prove that this investment and effort is starting to pay off."
The magazine describes the Kangoo Z.E. as the most important commercial vehicle released in the last twelve months.
The Kangoo Z.E's Fleet World award joins the International Van of the Year 2012 award, and the vehicle holds the distinction of being the first all-electric van to do so.
Fleet awards may not be relevant to everyone, but the criteria on which they are judged concerns many car buyers - namely efficiency, running costs and depreciation.
The Kangoo van is currently sold in Australia in traditional fuel-burning form, but Renault is already trialling the Fluence Z.E. electric vehicle in Canberra.
General release will be towards the end of the year, coinciding with the availability of the Better Place car-charging network.
There's no information yet on the Kangoo Z.E.'s Australian availability, but with the Fluence here and a car-charging network beginning to spread its footprint, the signs perhapsare good.
