Update: September 2012 availability confirmed.
BMW Australia has confirmed that it will add the five-door version of the brand's new M135i flagship to its local line-up later this year, following this week's international unveiling.
Revealed in new photos just hours after the reveal of the three-door range, the five-door M135i carries all of the new variant's styling features, while holding onto its extra doors.
With the three-door 1 Series absent from local showrooms in both the first generation and this new second series, the five-door M135i will rule the roost in the Australian line-up.
As with the three-door, the five-door M Performance enhanced hatch will draw power from BMW's turbocharged inline-six, offering up a hefty 235kW and 450Nm of torque.
Offered with both manual and automatic transmissions, BMW promises 0-100km/h times of 5.1 and 4.9 seconds respectively.

Speaking with TMR this week, BMW Australia's Scott Croaker confirmed that the M135i will be in Australian showrooms this year.
I can confirm the M135i 5 door hatch will be built out of July production so we will see the first examples in our showrooms from mid September," Mr Croaker said.
