New images have surfaced of two new concepts due to be unveiled on the Chery stand at next week’s Beijing Auto Show.

The models are described as key concepts previewing the Chinese carmaker's short and long-term plans.

TX SUV

Of the two showcars, the bronze TX SUV appears closest to a market-ready and production-friendly design, showcasing a new styling direction for the brand.

Chery says the SUV's styling is "inspired by water," but the concept's look suggests the brand is equally inspired by the latest trends in sporty SUVs - and a production version could be just the thing to build acceptance in Western markets.

Such a model could also take advantage of Chery’s recently announced alliance with Jaguar Land Rover, which will see Chery manufacture and distribute several of the British marques' models in China.

New Energy Concept

The second concept shown here is described as a "new energy concept," featuring an ant-like bionics design.

The unnamed car looks to be Chery’s futuristic vision for city commuting, featuring the ability to link with other identical cars, which could offer more fluid traffic flow in high-congestion traffic.

Details of the two concepts are thin on the ground at this stage. TMR will bring you all of the news from the Beijing Motor Show on April 23rd.
