Limited to 50 cars, the S60 T6 R-Design Polestar boosted output to 242kW and 480Nm of torque (up 18kW/40Nm over the regular T6 R-Design).
The enhancement is enough to bring the car's 0-100km/h time under 6.0 seconds, dropping from 6.1 to 5.8.
Now, Volvo Australia has made the tune available as an ongoing option not just for the S60 T6 R-Design, but also for R-Design versions of the V60 T6, the C30 T5, and the T6 and diesel D5-powered XC60.
“The original, limited-run of S60 Polestar vehicles was a direct result of the positive reaction the concept car generated at the Australian International Motorshow in mid-2011," Matt Braid, Managing Director of Volvo Cars Australia said.
"Australia is a performance-oriented market and this software optimisation in a number of our key products allows us to broaden the depth of performance offerings from Volvo."
In S60 form, the Polestar-enhanced figures carry over unchanged from the earlier limited-edition model.
What doesn't carry over is the $82,990 price tag, with the ongoing S60 R-Design Polestar variant priced at $75,490 - up from $72,990 for the regular S60 T6 R-Design.
Buyers of the limited-edition model needn't feel robbed however, with the new Polestar option being a strictly power-focused upgrade.
The Heico Sportiv interior and exterior add-ons, including 19-inch alloy wheels, quad-exhaust system and rear diffuser, remain the domain of the more expensive offering.
Joining its four-door sibling is the V60 T6 R-Design Polestar, bringing the same power figures and cutting its 0-100km/h time from 6.2 to 5.9 seconds.
The XC60 R-Design picks up the Polestar option in both T6 petrol and D5 diesel variants. In T6 petrol form, it picks up the same power gains as the S60 and V60 twins, with its 0-100km/h dash falling from 7.3 to 7.0 seconds.
In D5 diesel form, power is increased to 169kW and 470Nm (up from 158kW and 440Nm), with the 0-100km/h time listed at 8.1 seconds - 0.2 seconds quicker than before.
Lastly, the C30 T5 R-Design Polestar is offered in both manual and automatic form.
Power is boosted to 184kW and 370Nm (up from 169kW and 320Nm), with the 0-100km/h time listed at 6.3 seconds in manual form and 6.8 seconds with the auto - 0.4 and 0.3 seconds quicker than their unenhanced counterparts.
All Polestar-optimised models retain their existing fuel consumption and CO2 emission figures.
