MINI's three-door Paceman concept is expected to wear a Countryman Coupe badge when it makes its production debut next year, according to reports out of the US.

Connecting the new model with the five-door Countryman, the name was reportedly confirmed by an insider at MINI, to American website Car & Driver.

This week, the high-riding three-door has been spied testing in Europe, suggesting that a production debut is not far off.

The 'coupe' is expected to make its first appearance in production trim at September's Paris Motor Show, with a sales debut set for 2013.

Revealed in concept form at last year's Detroit Auto Show, the Paceman concept debuted with a largely production-ready design, kicking off speculation that a market launch was on the cards.

Shortly after, MINI board member Ian Robertson announced that a new production model would be based on the Paceman.

Australia

Speaking with TMR at the local launch of the new Coupe and Roadster twins earlier this year, MINI Australia boss Kai Bruesewitz confirmed that the new three-door small SUV will debut here next year.
