Oops. Nissan's new 2013 Altima sedan has been partially revealed this week, after a commemorative video revealed the car's profile and a glimpse of its headlight design.

Celebrating 30 years of production at its Atsugi plant in Japan, the official Nissan video offers a look at the centre's development facilities, where the new Altima is briefly shown.

The clip was quickly removed and the scene replaced with a shot of the already-revealed Infiniti JX SUV - but not before American website Inside Line snapped a screenshot of the car.

In the image, we can clearly see the curved swage line along the new Altima's profile, which was previously obscured in our spy photos by the traditional swirl-patterned camouflage.

The new headlights have also adopted the harpoon-like style worn by the 370Z and the US-market Maxima, replacing the long curved headlights of the current model.

The new fifth-generation Altima is expected to make its Australian debut in 2013, when it will replace the ailing Maxima in Nissan's local line-up.

A racing version of the Altima's design is also expected to represent the Nissan brand when the Japanese carmaker enters Australia's V8 Supercar Championship in 2013.

The Maxima nameplate may not die off locally, although underwhelming sales of the current model (sold as the Nissan Teana in Japan) is reportedly giving Nissan Australia little reason to hang onto the badge.
