BMW's new 3 Series Touring has been spied testing once again, this time decked out in the familiar M Sport styling and handling package.

With the 3 Series sedan now well-and-truly on the scene, BMW's engineers have peeled back most of the wagon's camouflage, leaving only the all-important tail under wraps.

Expect the wagon's powertrain line-up and trim grades to mirror the sedan, which includes two diesel and three petrol engines, and three trim grades: Modern Line, Sport Line and Luxury Line.

Where the M Sport package was previously the top-shelf offering in the sub-M3 line-up, BMW's new M Performance branch will now sit between the two.

In sedan form, the 3 Series engines are almost all four-cylinder turbocharged units, with just the stalwart six-cylinder 3.0 litre petrol engine in the 335i.

Along with the wagon, we should soon see the 3 Series GT in the near future, offering more of a four-door coupe profile - much like Audi's A5 Sportback.

Watch for the 3 Series Touring wagon to make its global debut around the middle of this year.
