Hyundai's upcoming 2012 i30 range should arrive as a complete model line-up when it lands in Australia later this year, following this week's unveiling of the i30 Wagon.

In Australia, the current i30 range includes the regular five-door hatch, and the longer i30cw wagon. Whether the cw moniker will carry over to the new model remains to be seen.

As before, the new wagon shares its styling characteristics with its five-door sibling, and both are largely identical right up to the C-pillar, where the large rear-quarter window and a thick D-pillar separate the two bodystyles.

There are differences at the rear however, with the i30 Wagon getting its own unique tail-light design, along with a re-sculpted rear bumper and a more upright tailgate design.

The i30 wagon also benefits from a higher and longer roofline, making interior space and storage a priority.

At 4485mm, the Wagon is 185mm longer than its five-door counterpart, and 10mm longer than its wagon predecessor.

As a result, rear storage is up from the five-door's 378 to 528 litres. Drop the rear seats and that space grows to a whopping 1642 litres.

Mechanically, the two cars are almost identical, sharing running-gear and a range of six petrol and diesel engines. Read more about the new i30's engine range here.

  very nice design... but isnt Hyundai killing its i40 wagon with this one??? i bet this one will be much more affordable and only marginally smaller... i like this proposition from hyundai very good

  Sadly the CW isn't coming down under. Hyundai will realise their mistake in 12 months no doubt but they'll have lost 5,000 sales. Most i30cw buyers are not interested in the i40 wagon. Better to buy a Ford Focus wagon - ah! Not available in Aus either. Madness!
