Holden Barina Sedan On Sale In Australia

Mike Stevens | Feb 2, 2012

Holden's strong-selling Barina Hatch has been joined in the Australian market by a four-door Sedan version this week, following its unveiling in Chevrolet form early last year.

Kicking off at $16,490 for the five-speed manual version and $18,490 for the six-speed automatic, the Barina Sedan enters the range above the Hatch, which starts at $15,990.

The Sedan shares the Hatch's 1.6 litre four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 85kW and 155Nm of torque. Fuel consumption is listed at 6.8 l/100km in manual form, and 7.3 l/100km with the six-speed auto.

On the styling front, the new Barina Sedan carries the same overall design worn by the Hatch, with the roofline dropping away at the C-pillar into a short rear deck.

The Barina Sedan carries the same ANCAP 5 Star safety rating as the Hatch, and standard safety f eatures include driver, front passenger, front side and curtain airbags, dual front seatbelt pretensioners, front seatbelt reminders, Electronic Stability Control, a collapsible pedal release system and head restraints for all seats.

Got mine on order after test driving at Wonthaggi Holden. Great little car, has so many more features than other overseas models... Mazda 3 doesnt even have bluetooth?! The manual is smooth and once you get in it doesnt feel as small as it looks on the outside... Cant go wrong with a new Holden these days!

Have driven my Barina Hatch for exactly 12 months. it is a gem, Solidly built, superbly equipped, sweet handling and very willing and able engine. The sedan I saw only to-day - it is a handsome looking car, slightly taming the Hatch's aggressive stance on the road. I would recommend anyone to choose these cars. And what a superb highway car the Hatch was on our trip to and from Brisbane from Sydney last January. Looking forward to the same trip in a few weeks. Super handling, quiet cruising great economy and all the safety features you could wish for.

Fantastic car! I've had my Barina Sedan for a year now and struggle to find a fault with the little gem. I drive 500kms a week for work and it just keeps going. The manual has it over the auto as the auto struggles to locate the right gear in various terrain. Great vision from the windscreen i feel I am in a Commodore! My partner wants to sell it to her niece....needless to say I told her to buy me a 2014 plated model with turbo. Great car though!biggrin
