Reports of a new Lamborghini SUV - a psuedo successor to the LM002 "Rambo Lambo" - have been circulating for years, despite boss Stephan Winkelmann pointing to the four-door Estoque as a more palatable option for buyers.

With Bentley having confirmed its own SUV, and Porsche's Cayenne as a modern precedent (and a stablemate), it's not hard to imagine a bull-badged high-rider.

Now, Italian motoring mag Quattroruote has published images that it claims are of a new Lamborghini SUV that will debut at the Beijing Auto Show in April.

Whether the images are legitimate or mere artist renderings is unclear (although the latter seems likely), it is clear that the designer of this fast-backed SUV has drawn inspiration from the Estoque concept.

If a big high-riding Lambo does make its way into production, it will likely share its platform with Porsche's Cayenne, which has proved widely popular and a hot seller for Porsche.

Technical details can only be speculated on at this point, although the report claims that a 423kW V10 engine has been confirmed, along with a hybrid variant delivering a massive 515kW.
