GM has released the third of four teaser images for its upcoming Buick Encore, revealing the best look yet at its new crossover.

With the release of this latest puzzle piece, we can see the latest evolution of the styling language established with 2009's Opel Insignia-based LaCrosse sedan and the Buick Business MPV.

The carmaker has yet to reveal any technical details for its new compact SUV. It is known however that the Encore will share its platform with a new Opel model, possibly opening the door to an Australian debut in the future.

GM's new unified platform program, which will see the number of individual platforms cut in half by 2018, could also lead to a Holden-badged crossover - the Australian brand's line-up has plenty of room for a competitor in the hot-selling compact SUV segment.

The Encore will make its global debut at next week's Detroit Auto Show.
