Renault's updated-for-2012 Koleos SUV is now on sale in Australia, following its international unveiling in June.
Kicking off from $29,990 for the entry-level Expression 4x2 petrol manual, the SUV's updates include the addition of satellite navigation as standard equipment across the range, and a redesigned front-end.
Renault Australia CEO Justin Hocevar said that while the outgoing Koleos has not been a big seller, the new features and limited price changes of the 2012 model will prove more appealing.
“We are confident that the attractive body, attractive feature list and attractive price points for these new models will result in far more Renault Koleos crossovers exploring the great Australian countryside in the very near future,” Mr Hocevar said.
Powertrains for the 2012 Koleos include a pair of four-cylinder engines: Nissan's 2.5 litre petrol engine, and Renault's own 2.0 litre dCi turbodiesel.
The 2.5 litre petrol engine produces 126kW and 226Nm of torque, with fuel consumption figures listed at 9.6 l/100km in six-speed manual form, and 9.3 l/100km with the CVT automatic.
The 2.0 litre diesel's output remains unchanged at 110kW and 320Nm, but its fuel consumption has fallen from 8.3 to 7.6 l/100km - an 8.5 percent improvement.
The diesel is available with a 4x4 layout only - a system also borrowed from Nissan - mated to a conventional six-speed automatic transmission.
As before, there are are three trim grades in the Koleos line-up: the entry-level Expression, the mid-range Dynamique and the top-shelf Privilege grade.
Along with a restyled face, the revised "Phase II" Koleos also gets new exterior mirrors with integrated indicators, new wheel designs and the new 'Cayenne Orange' colour option.
Updates in the cabin are less obvious, although a range of new fabrics and trims are available. The compact SUV's instrument cluster has also been subtly redesigned for 2012.
Satellite navigation is now offered across the range as standard. Other features, depending on specification, include parking sensors, hands-free entry and ignition, Hill Descent Control and Hill Start Assist.
The range-topping Privilege variant also picks up a panoramic glass roof and also adds bi-xenon headlights with fixed cornering lamps and 18-inch alloy wheels as standard.
Standard safety features include six airbags, load limiters for the front and rear seatbelts, seatbelt tensioners, Electronic Stability Control with ABS and electronic brakeforce distribution, emergency brake assist and understeer control.
The Koleos offers 450 litres of storage space with the rear seats in the upright position, growing to 1380 litres with the seats laid flat.
The boot also offeres an additional 28 litres of storage in the underfloor stowage space, while the front passenger seat of the Dynamique and Prestige variants can also be laid flat to provide up to 2.8 metres in length.
Storage in the cabin includes a 15 litre glove compartment, and there's additional storage in a drawer beneath the front seats for Dynamique and Privilege variants, and two five-litre cubbies in the rear floor.
