Here it is folks. Audi’s very own supercar has finally been spotted hurtling around the Nurburgring Nordschliefe in its complete production-ready form.
As the name implies the R8 V10 is powered by Audi’s 525hp 5.2-litre V10 engine, itself a derivative of the Lamborghini Gallardo’s 5-litre bent-ten. The differences aren’t just limited to the engine bay though. As you can see in the pics snapped by the kind folk at Bridge To Gantry, the V10 features a revised front grille with a chrome bezel, fewer vent slats and enlarged side air intakes to help cool that big engine.
Unfortunately we can’t get a glimpse of the engine in the Nurburgring R8, however the existence of the V10 powered super-coupe has been one of Audi AG’s most poorly-kept secrets. Not only that, but pre-release cars fitted with the V10 were handed out to existing R8 owners back in May, with pictures of the even-more-crowded engine bay predictably finding their way onto the Internet. All I want to know is when will Audi up the insanity-level with a harder core S or (god forbid) RS version of the R8?

I’d like to kiss the person who took this pic! Thank you wonderful picture person for making my day!
THAT Audi looks gorgeous. Can’t wait to see the engine - the lovely heart that beats within what looks like a beauty.
I can’t afford one of those babies, but when this 2009 is rolled out, I plan on popping into a showroom near me to take a closer look (with my inhaler, of course, incase I faint from the sheer joy of the experience!).
