Hyundai will team up with longtime partner Rhys Millen Racing (RMR) to bring a supercharged version of its Genesis Coupe to next month's SEMA show, the Korean carmaker has confirmed.

Utilising a supercharger system developed jointly with RMR, Magnuson, Harman International and Torvec, the project focuses on boosting the Coupe's existing V6 petrol engine.

In standard form, the naturally-aspirated engine produces 234kW (although a near-250kW update is rumoured for the 2012 model). For the company's SEMA show car, the supercharged engine will deliver more than 335kW.

“The Hyundai America Technical Center and Magnuson supercharger demonstrates the high-performance potential of Genesis Coupe’s V6 engine. The car was engineered to handle this kind of extra power,” David Dutko, the project's senior engineer, said.

“Our engineers have been working for years with Magnuson to ensure high engine output is available on future Hyundai vehicles.”

Being a show car, the Genesis Coupe we'll see at SEMA will also carry a raft of styling and chassis tweaks, including larger hoops and a lowered suspension setup.

The list of modifications includes 19-inch Enkei wheels in front of Brembo six-piston brakes with cross-drilled discs at both ends, an IsoTorque differential, and a free-flowing exhaust system.

Watch for the overhauled Genesis Coupe to debut next month - likely marking the 2012 update's first official appearance - alongside ARK Performance's turbocharged Hyundai Veloster.
