Ahead of its launch at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, Hyundai has let slip some telling images of its new i30 small hatchback.

While a teaser image released last month showed some elements of the car's sleek new design, these photos reveal even more detail and give us our first peek inside the 2012 i30.

Styled in accordance with Hyundai's 'Fluidic Sculpture' design language, the 2011 i30's front end bears a strong (but not identical) resemblance to the recently-launched Elantra small sedan and also features LED daytime running lamps on high-grade models.

Pronounced front guards lend the i30 a more muscular look, and the upwards-kinked beltline of the current model has been ditched in favour of a more conventional glasshouse.

Inside, the new i30 appears more upmarket. The top-spec model shown here (which could be indicative of an upcoming SLX variant) features leather upholstery, an electronic parking brake, a button-filled steering wheel, dual-zone climate control and a fully integrated satellite navigation screen.

Precise specifications and details the on local line up have yet to be released, but expect the 2012 Hyundai i30 range to feature a range of petrol and diesel four-cylinder engines when it launches. A replacement for the current i30cw wagon variant has yet to be announced.

Australia

The 2012 Hyundai i30 will likely make its local debut in Australia sometime in the middle of 2012, Hyundai Australia confirmed today.
