September 5 UPDATE: New images added to gallery, rear-end revealed.

Infiniti has revealed a new 'motor show version' of its sporty FX50 SUV, adding a number of conceptual styling enhancements in honour of its partnership with the Red Bull F1 team.

Dubbed the FX50 Performance Concept, Infiniti says the concept was inspired by 2010 F1 champion and current season leader Sebastian Vettel.

While popstars put their name to perfumes and clothing lines, Vettel has made his mark off the track by leading the design of the FX50 Performance Concept's styling upgrades.

Up front, the concept gets the FX's updated-for-2012 grille design, but ditches its new smoothed-out headlights in favour of the pre-update Falcon XR-like headlights.

There's also a new front bumper design with an F1-inspired carbon-fibre bottom spoiler and integrated LED daytime running lights.

At the rear is a carbon-fibre rear spoiler, and the ultra-lightweight material also features in the side skirts and rear bumper.

Infiniti is playing its cards close to its chest when it comes to power and performance upgrades, but with a Frankfurt debut scheduled, all will be revealed soon.
