Earlier this month, Toyota Australia tricked out the biggest model in its SUV/4WD line-up with the arrival of the LandCruiser Altitude. This week, the smallest model has come in for its own special-edition upgrade: the RAV4 Altitude is back.
Based on the manual 2WD and manual/automatic AWD variants in the four-cylinder CV trim, the RAV4 Altitude gains nine additional features.
Externally, the RAV4 Altitude gets 17-inch alloy wheels in place of the CV's steel wheels, along with front fog-lamps and silver roof-rails.
There is also privacy glass for the rear, rear-quarter and rear-door windows, a silver applique to the front bumper and an Altitude exterior badge.
Five exterior colour choices are offered: pearlescent White Pearl Crystal Shine, Silver Pearl, Graphite, Ebony and Wildfire (metallic/pearl paint available as an additional cost option).
In the cabin, the Altitude features a six-CD audio unit with an LCD display, USB connectivity and Bluetooth phone and audio streaming. There is also a premium steering wheel and gear-shift knob.
All RAV4 models have electric power-assisted steering, Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, Anti-skid Brakes and Hill-start Assist Control as standard equipment. Automatic transmission models have the additional feature of Downhill Assist Control.
Only 1500 of this special edition RAV4 will be built in Japan for the Australian market between July and September.
