It's not the new 911 we're all keen to see, but still a mean looker: this is the latest, and likely the last, track version of the 997 911 sports car, the 2012 GT3 Cup.

Based on the 911 GT3 RS road car and built to FIA standards, the new GT3 Cup gets a larger 100 litre fuel tank and a new filler designed to make the Cup more suited to a wider number of racing classes.

On the power front, the GT3 Cup's engine is nearly identical to its roadgoing sibling, its 3.8 litre flat six producing 331kW of power. Track-specific modifications include a controlled catalytic converter and a race exhaust system.

Packing 18x9.5-inch lightweight alloy racing wheels at the front and massive 18x12-inch wheels at the back, the GT3 Cup gets pumped arches at both ends.

There's also Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes behind each wheel, saving around 20kg over the regular GT3 RS brakes.

The GT3 Cup 911 will be available from now through to the 2012-2013 racing seasons. Prices in Europe start at the equivalent of AU$213,000.
